Schauer Announces Funding For Airports and Dental Clinic

11 December 2009

Congressman Mark Schauer says the House has given final approval for funding for a new Branch County airport terminal and a public health dental clinic to serve families in Branch, Hillsdale, and St. Joseph counties. Schauer said this will bring $450,000 for the Airport and another $400,000 for the construction of the dental clinic. The streamlined green building for the Branch County Memorial Airport will be used to construct a new, energy efficient structure to allow a streamlined process for receiving pilots and passengers. Schauer says this project is the final step in the County’s plan to improve capacity at the airport and address environmental concerns. The construction is expected to create 25 jobs. The Dental Clinic will be located in Hillsdale and would serve children on Medicaid. Children and adults without Medicaid or dental health insurance would be eligible to receive services at the clinic on a sliding fee schedule. The project would create 20-to-30 construction jobs as well as nine professional positions at the clinic once the project is finished.
