Volunteer of the Week: Mona Walz
Today's Volunteer of the Week comes from Scio Township. Mona Walz, age 77, has been helping out in our Washtenaw County office for a while now. We wanted to learn a bit more about what made her decide to support Mark this year, so here's our Q&A with Mona:
Q: What made you want to volunteer for Mark's campaign?
Because Walberg is the worst Republican in Congress. And because last time I was so distressed that there was no help for the Democratic candidate by the state or by national organizations. Also, Mark is a great candidate; well qualified and he will make an excellent congressman.
Q: What sort of things did you help out with? What was your experience like?
I have helped on mailings and phone calls. When I make calls, most people are friendly and enthusiastic about Democrats. I have also driven out to Chelsea to deliver yard signs for supporters. I also brought in a map of the Washtenaw School district with zip codes to help the organizers in Washtenaw!
Q: What are the top two issues you hope Mark will address as a member of Congress?
Health Care and the War in Iraq. We need to get out of Iraq ASAP. There is so much money spent on private insurance, the system needs to be fixed.
